What is Carné de Extranjería?

It is the foreigner identity card in Peru, similar to a passport for residents. If you work for a Peruvian company under an employment contract, you usually hold Trabajador Residente status with a card that contains your name and photo.

Why do I need to renew every year?

Although the card itself is issued for 4 years, the migration status registered in the systems of Migraciones expires annually. After expiration, you lose the right to stay and work legally in Peru. Renewal is submitted through Migraciones no earlier than 1 month before expiry.

For renewal, you need to collect a document package, verify Essalud contributions, confirm your employment contract, and submit everything online via Migraciones. We can handle this fully or partially for you.
