What is Carné de Extranjería?

It is the foreigner identity card in Peru, similar to a passport for residents. If you work for a Peruvian company under an employment contract, you usually hold Trabajador Residente status with a card that contains your name and photo.

Why do I need to renew every year?

The card validity is 1 year. After expiration, you lose the right to stay and work legally in Peru. Renewal is submitted through Migraciones no earlier than 1 month before expiry.

For renewal, you need to collect a document package, verify Essalud contributions, confirm your employment contract, and submit everything online via Migraciones. We can handle this fully or partially for you.

  • Personal RUC (starts with 15) + SUNAT personal account password

    Needed to retrieve Essalud reports from your SUNAT account.

  • Accountant contact (phone)

    Needed to request boletas de pago for the last 3 months.

  • Photo or scan of your Carné

    A phone photo works - we automatically convert it to PDF.

  • Date of your last entry to Peru

    Needed for login in Agencia Virtual de Migraciones.

  • Current phone and email

    Used for updates and communication.
